1. About TaxiTap
TaxiTap is operated by TaxiTap (Pty) Ltd, 88 Forest Road, Bramley, Johannesburg, 2090 ("TaxiTap", "we", "us"). Directors: Sisikelelwe Gomo. Contact: taxitap@gmail.com, +27 79 771 2238, taxitap.co.za.
TaxiTap is a technology platform that lets riders pay minibus taxi fares by bank card and lets drivers receive those fares in their bank accounts. TaxiTap does not provide transport services; the trip is between the rider and the driver or taxi operator.
2. Payments are processed by Paystack
Card payments are processed by Paystack, a third-party payment processor. Your card details are captured and stored by Paystack, not by TaxiTap. TaxiTap does not hold balances or store money on your behalf: each fare is charged once and settled by Paystack directly to the driver's bank account, less the TaxiTap platform fee.
3. Riders
- Saving a card. To pay in the app you save a bank card through Paystack's secure checkout. We make a small check charge to confirm the card and refund it automatically.
- Your authorisation. Each time you show a TaxiTap pay code to a driver, you authorise one charge to your saved card for the fare the driver enters, plus the bank card fee shown on our Fees page. A pay code works once and expires after 90 seconds. We will not charge your card without a pay code you have shown.
- Check the fare. Agree the fare with the driver before you show your code. Your receipt shows the fare and the card fee.
- Removing your card. You can remove your saved card in the app at any time.
4. Drivers
- You must provide a bank account in your own name (or your taxi business's name) for payouts. Payouts are made by Paystack according to its settlement schedule.
- You must only enter the fare agreed with the rider, and only collect when the rider has shown you their pay code.
- TaxiTap keeps a platform fee of 3% of each fare. If a fare is refunded because of an incorrect charge, the refunded amount may be recovered from future payouts.
- We may suspend a driver account that is used for fraud or repeated incorrect charges.
5. Refunds and disputes
See our Refunds & Disputes policy.
6. Your account
Keep your phone and login secure. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has used your account. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
7. Privacy
We process personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act. Subject to the law, TaxiTap is not responsible for the transport service itself, or for delays or failures caused by banks, Paystack or network outages outside our control.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will show the date of the latest version on this page. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
